KATTREYA LANDS NORTHERN TOUR IN 'SAME SAME DIFFERENT'

SAME SAME DIFFERENT is a new verbatim play about adoption, identity and belonging, sharing stories gathered from adoptees living all over the world.

Inspired by Naomi's own experiences as a Trans-racial adoptee, being adopted from Hong Kong into a White British family, this hour long play gives adoptees the opportunity to share their adoption story in their own words and reveal what it's like to grow up in a family and community who might look very different to themselves. The focus of the piece is what the contributors perceive as the similarities and differences between themselves and their family members and how both nature and nurture influence identity. 'SNAILS FOR STARTERS' RECEIVES RAVE REVIEW!

'Snails For Starters' has been Kattreya Scheurer-Smith's first ever full length self-penned piece, due to the needs for a set, Kattreya decided that this would be best staged with Waterbeach Theatre Company. It starred a mixture of WTC regulars; David Morris and Katherine Maltby, along with some Big Squirrel favourites; Christine Easterfield, Stephen Smith and Kattreya Scheurer-Smith herself. This was officially reviewed by NODA with the following quotations:

"Miss Scheurer-Smith has a wonderful understanding of dialogue and its delivery… The comedy

was overt but delicate and the pathos was sudden and arrived with an unobtrusive impact that

haunted you afterwards."

"The set (Design by Mark Easterfield) was perfection."

"The whole production did not look like it had been directed at all. It looked for all the world that it

had just arrived in an Amazon package and was rolled out like some perfect little bundle. The

technical direction was exemplary."

"My compliments to Mr Easterfield and all the cast and crew for a remarkable production. I believe

this was Kattreya Scheurer-Smith’s first full length play and she should be strongly advised to push forward with this side of her art. It was in every way a complete corker!"

'UKE BELONG TO ME' TO BE PUBLISHED

It has now been confirmed that 'Stage Scripts' have given 'Uke Belong To Me' the

go-ahead for publishing! Big Squirrel have been in contact with Stage Scripts since their

first meeting back in 2017 at the NDFA All Winner's Final when the interest was originally

expressed. With the termination of Jasper Publishing it is taking longer than usual for 'Uke'

to officially be hitting the online shelves, however with all the paperwork signed we're

assured 'Uke Belong To Me' will be available for amateur performances by early 2019!
